Sizzling cheeseburger crunchwraps bring classic American diner flavors to your kitchen with a crispy, handheld twist. Melted cheese, seasoned beef, and crisp vegetables create a portable feast you’ll crave again and again.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices american cheese
  • 4 burger patties

Produce and Seasonings:

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Wrap and Additional Ingredients:

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 4 tostada shells
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup pickles, sliced

Instructions

  1. Shape ground beef into thin burger patties, seasoning with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Grill or pan-sear patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  3. Place a tostada shell in the center of each large flour tortilla.
  4. Layer cooked burger patty directly on top of tostada shell.
  5. Spread ketchup and mustard evenly over the burger patty.
  6. Add a slice of american cheese on top of the burger.
  7. Distribute diced tomatoes, onions, and sliced pickles over the cheese.
  8. Sprinkle shredded lettuce across the top of the ingredients.
  9. Carefully fold the edges of the tortilla towards the center, creating a sealed circular wrap.
  10. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  11. Place each wrapped crunchwrap seam-side down in the skillet.
  12. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy, then flip and cook the other side.
  13. Remove from skillet, let cool for 1-2 minutes, then slice diagonally and serve hot.

Notes

  • Customize patty thickness for even cooking, ensuring juicy and flavorful results.
  • Use high-heat cooking method to develop a delicious caramelized exterior on the burger.
  • Prevent sogginess by placing tostada shell as a barrier between tortilla and wet ingredients.
  • Seal edges tightly to maintain structural integrity during cooking and prevent filling from falling out.
  • Adjust heat to medium to avoid burning tortilla while achieving crispy golden-brown exterior.
  • Experiment with alternative cheese varieties like cheddar or pepper jack for different flavor profiles.
  • Swap ground beef with turkey or plant-based patties for healthier or vegetarian options.
  • Add extra crunch by including crispy bacon or jalapeños for enhanced texture and taste.
