Zhent is a Kazakh sweet and dessert made from millet (or wheat) flour, butter, curds, sugar, and raisins. It requires no cooking; instead, the ingredients are blended together and refrigerated.
Locals usually prepare zhent for special occasions, such as birthdays, qyrkynan shygaru (the 40th day after a child’s birth), or Nauryz (or Nowruz – Persian New Year). The dessert is cut into small pieces to serve.
